“Tratar o cancro por tu” brings together scientists from Ipatimup with some of the best local specialists for an open and simplified conversation about cancer, placing patients at the center of the discussion.

After a highly successful first edition, which brought together hundreds of people from all over the country, Ipatimup is once again leaving the laboratories and hospital consulting rooms to talk to the public about the latest scientific and medical advances in the field of cancer. From 19 January to 23 March 2023, in six district capitals, some of the best local specialists and Ipatimup will be talking about major cancers: lung, breast, colon, prostate, skin and paediatric tumours.

At a time when budgetary constraints and the pandemic are still taking their toll on oncological diseases, with an impact on both the increase in mortality and the number of cases diagnosed late, Ipatimup is starting this new cycle of fortnightly sessions on cancer literacy with the same objectives as the first edition: to inform about the latest therapies in the fight against cancer, simplify concepts, alert people to early diagnosis and put patients at the centre of the discussion. Some of Portugal’s best specialists are once again taking part in the initiative, with Prof Manuel Sobrinho Simões taking part in all the sessions. This time, we will also have the participation of renowned actor Jorge Serafim who, through folk tales and some humour, will humanise the topic

We would like to thank all the participants, partners and the public.
